I saw an example of this creative project online, and I knew that I really had to try it. I have so much stuff in my bedroom, and I thought that this could be an answer to my storage issues. The greatest part is that the box can be made in absolutely any size you like. This one is a standard magazine sized one, with a height of three strips. If you wanted to, you could do a height of 9 strips, so it becomes almost a vase shape. I got the general idea from this page. Doing one this small would have taken about half an hour to an hour all up.
You will need:
Step 1: Tear out a page of the magazine and fold it in half lengthways
Step 2: Fold the page in half lengthways again
Step 3: Fold it in half lengthways one last time, and use glue to stick it together (I glued three sides of each page)
Step 4: Line a piece of wide sticky tape onto a table, sticky side up, and lay the strips on top, alternating each side of the tape. Take another strip and place it across the middle of the tape on one side. It should look like this.
Step 5: Fold the strips over together, so they fill in the holes
Step 6: Weave other strips through in the opposite direction from the bottom. Continue until you reach the top.
Step 7: Clean up the sides and place sticky tape over them to keep them together. You should have a square shape by now.
Step 8: Use a ruler to draw a line from each corner towards the middle. It should pass through the number of strips that you want as the box's height.
Step 9: Cut down each line you have drawn, and fold the triangles up.
Step 10: Use sticky tape to keep each inside edge of the triangles you now have.
Step 11: Move each triangle together. I have placed a larger version of this step below, as I'm sure it could be quite complicated. You basically need to pull the sides of each fold you created together. One triangle shape will be on the outside of the box, and one will be inside. I stapled each triangle to the side of the box to keep it together, but I'm sure this isn't completely necessary. The most important thing is to use sticky tape to hold everything together. I thought this might make it look bad, but it really doesn't!
Step 12: You are done! If you need or want more reinforcement, you could place sticky tape all over the box, but without this it is still fairly strong, and definitely stays up!
If you decide to try this yourself, I would love to see how it worked out for you! It would look amazing holding any type of products, jewellery, makeup, or nailpolish, among other things. I have a feeling that this is likely to become a home made present for a number of people in my life. Hope you enjoyed this post!

That's such a cool idea. I need to start hoarding magazines so that I can do this!! <3
This is so cute! I'm going to try it with pastel coloured pages!
